The September 20, 2024 Friday Finds just for you, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]!

Hey Reader,

It's been a week and a half crammed into one for me. So today's brief Friday Finds are presented without fanfare!

Now, on to the fun!

Gina

Any news or announcements will be found at the bottom of this email.

This week's web edition covers:

  • Independent Author News
  • Books for your TBR
  • Yummy, Simple Apple Cobbler
  • Entertaining blogs to visit
  • Book reviews
  • Trivia Time

Recipe

Here's your email-only recipe for the week.

Nana's Chocolate No-Bake Cookies

Here's the original recipe. You can tell it's been well-loved over the years.

I've made several adjustments over the years depending on who I am making them for. Leaving out the chocolate, adding more peanut butter for one grandchild, and adding bacon or chili powder for another. But the general consensus is the original can't be beat. Secret hint: Don't make them on a rainy day. They never set-up right for me.

Trivia Time

This week’s trivia question is:

What is the best-selling soup flavor in the UK?

Leave your answer in the comment section to be entered into this month’s trivia contest.

The answer to last week’s question:

Which infamous event in history occurred 717 years ago on Friday the 13th, contributing to the superstition surrounding the date? The Knights Templar were hunted down and executed on the order of King Philip IV.

Don't forget, as an email newsletter subscriber, you receive bonus entries that are not available to regular readers!

Books

What are you reading this week? Here is a suggestion for one I think I will read soon.

  • B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree

Speak of pain, and I’ll tell you of the Time who stole it away…

Besieged by war, ravaged by monsters, and crawling with the undead, the land of Okarria is dying. Seventeen-year-old Emara survives by using her modest healing gift to save as many as she can while eluding the invaders who thirst for her enchanted blood.

So when a cursed cat saves her life and reveals Emara is the legendary Time Heir the necromancer king’s been searching for, she agrees to act as bait in a plot to destroy him. But when the plan goes horrifically awry, Emara must discover how deep her powers go, what she can change…

And what she cannot.

Unfortunately, Time Heirs have a history of getting killed, and with Okarria’s future on the line, Emara may have no choice but to follow in her ancestors’ footsteps.

You can learn more about the Time Heirs HERE! They are also available in Audiobook format.

A Bit of News

You can read the blog post to learn about my crazy cat's adventure during the recent lunar eclipse.

I'm still trying to find uses for our bumper crop of red-delicious apples.

BBNYA has reached the final round. This year, 16 Indie Author books made it to the finals! Panelists have until December to read and score their assigned books. AND!!! All 59 of the semi-finalists receive a spotlight tour featuring their book. Since I may be unable to read too many full books for review posts, I agreed to spotlight all 59 books over the fall. I just might be crazy!

Reader, Welcome to Friday Finds for 11-08-2024. How are you today? I'm doing great...busy, but things are going well. I'm still deciding on changes I will be making on the website and to the newsletter for 2025. I am soliciting advice from my readers on several points. I plan to have a few polls to help me decide. But I could NOT face anything to do with polls and voting just yet. No matter your thoughts on the American election, we ALL need a break from that rhetoric! So let's relax and have...

Until December 4, a new post featuring a semi-finalist will be posted every day. Look for the hashtag #BBNYA2024 on ALL social media sites to follow along. The US...
